If someone says Hang in there, it means to stay strong in a difficult situation. It may be encouragement from someone giving advice or offering kind words, to remain persistent and determined in difficult circumstances. Similar words that you can use to expand your expression bank: carry on, follow through, tough it out, keep it up, gut it out.
