Meaning
"Aren't you"는 영어 문장에서 부정 의문문을 만들 때 사용하는 표현입니다. 주로 상대방이 어떤 사실에 동의하거나 이해하고 있는지를 확인할 때 쓰입니다.
예를 들어, "Aren't you coming to the party?"라는 문장은 '너는 파티에 오는 것이 아닌가?'라는 의미로, 상대방이 파티에 올 것이라고 기대하거나 알고 있었는데, 확실히 하기 위해 질문하는 상황에서 사용됩니다.
"Aren't you"는 "Are you not"의 축약형이며, 보다 자연스럽고 구어체적인 느낌을 줍니다. 이 표현은 상대방이 특정한 상태나 행동을 하고 있다고 기대하거나 추측할 때 자주 사용됩니다. 예를 들어, "Aren't you a student?"라는 질문은 상대방이 학생이라고 알고 있거나 추정하고 있을 때 확인하는 용도로 사용됩니다.
부정 의문문은 긍정적인 답변을 기대할 때 사용되며, "Aren't you"는 그러한 맥락에서 상대방의 동의를 구하거나 확인하는 데 유용한 표현입니다.

Writer's Note
"Aren’t" is a contraction of "Are (a form of the verb be) + not". It is used in statements and questions, with "you", "they", and all other plural subjects.
When you make a question, invert the subject and auxiliary verb.
- You are singing. Why are you singing?
- You are not singing. Why are you not singing?
- You aren't singing. Why aren't you singing?
In all three examples, the verb "are or aren't" has moved in front of the subject "you". All the rest of the sentence after that singing or not singing stays the same.
